Hola! I’m Cindy Hancock, a fulltime school counselor. I’m so EXCITED for a new school year. I have 20+ years of school counseling experience in Arlington County – elementary, middle, and high school and Prince William County – elementary school.  I earned my Bachelor of Arts – Spanish & Dance from the University of Mary Washington and my Master’s Degree in school counseling from Trinity University. Along with my passion for working and helping students and families, I’m a dancer! I teach Zumba and many other dance styles. I’m also a licensed real estate agent. I look forward to meeting and working with all our students and families.

Hello Claremont! I’m Kayla Powell, the part-time school counselor. I am very excited for this new school year and to be working with the exceptional staff and families here at Claremont! This will be my first year as a school counselor. In addition to working here at Claremont, I will be working part-time at Glebe Elementary School. Before coming to APS I worked in sleep research with the Army, and inpatient care with Virginia Hospital Center. Much of my childhood was spent moving around as a “military brat,” but luckily we moved to Arlington for my 8th-grade year and stayed until I graduated high school, here in APS. I received a B.S. in Psychology from William & Mary and completed my Master’s degree locally at Marymount University. During my free time, I love working in my garden and spending time out in nature with my husband and our dog, Clover. I am a huge animal lover and one day hope to own a farm with all kinds of creatures, big and small.
