Dual language education is my passion and I am delighted to be the principal of Claremont Immersion School. I graduated cum laude from Columbia University with a B.A. in Latin American History and earned my M.Ed. in Educational Leadership from the University of Georgia. With my family, I lived and worked in dual language schools in Santa Cruz, Bolivia (3 years) and Cuzco, Peru (5 years). I live in Arlington with my husband, two daughters, and three pets.

Hola! I am the Assistant Principal at Claremont Immersion School. As a professional who believes in the infinite power of being bilingual, biliterate, and bicultural in the 21st century, it is my mission to inspire every student to embark on a life-long journey of learning in two languages. I graduated Magna Cum Laude from Universidad Pedagogica Experimental Libertador – Instituto Pedagogico de Caracas, Venezuela, with a B.A. in Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL) to later earn my M.A. in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) at Greensboro College, NC. I also attended Appalachian State University in Boone, NC, to further my post-graduate studies in Educational Leadership. I taught a wide range of grade levels (K-16) for 18 years before becoming an administrator at Claremont, where I now have the privilege to lead a great staff and to contribute to their excellence with my instructional expertise.

I am originally from Houston, Texas. My grandparents migrated to the US from Mexico. I was born and raised in Houston and have lived in Utah, Mexico, Costa Rica and now Virginia. I have lived in Arlington for 18 years and in Fairfax for 5 years. My husband is from Arlington, of Venezuelan decent and together we have 4 children that have attended Arlington Public Schools. I have worked for APS for over 10 years and am very grateful to be a part of Claremont Immersion School. In my spare time I like to travel, read, bike, and ‘Duolingo’ Italian.

I have been with APS for over 16 years and have enjoyed being the School Registrar at Claremont Immersion School since it opened in 2003. I love being a part of the Claremont family because the students, parents, and staff are amazing and always bring a smile to my face. Claremont has also offered me the wonderful opportunity to practice and learn more Spanish, since I was born in Panama but grew up in Alexandria, Virginia. I am a proud Mother of a 23-year-old daughter and I currently live in Stafford, VA with my husband and our cats. We enjoy camping in the Fall, hiking in the Spring, and gardening in the Summer.
