The main goal of the English Language Arts program is to teach students English language literacy skills. These skills are primarily expressed in the ability to effectively read, write, listen and speak.
Dr. Ayanna Baccus
My goals are to help children become successful and motivated readers and writers. I have a bachelor’s degree in elementary education from Wake Forest University and a master’s degree and a doctorate in education from the University of Maryland, College Park. I love reading mysteries, biographies, and funny stories. A few of my favorite children’s authors are Patricia Polacco, Beverly Cleary, and Mildred Taylor.
Mrs. Carole Ebert
I graduated from the College of Charleston in South Carolina and the University of Virginia. My love of reading began as a young girl when I spent many hours reading all kinds of books, especially ones about horses! In addition to reading, I enjoy gardening, visiting interesting places around Washington, DC, and playing with my two spoiled cats!
Mrs. Kim Klaus
Reading Specialist/Data Coach
I have taught at Claremont since it opened, and I’m thrilled to be a part of the reading team! I’ve studied at many universities in Virginia, including the University of Mary Washington and the University of Virginia. I have a wonderful husband and two sweet sons, Spencer and Finn. We love to go hiking, visit museums, and, of course, READ.
