Amanda Meyer, Biliteracy Specialist
My name is Amanda Meyer, and I’m originally from North Carolina. After graduating from George Washington University, I taught in many different places, from Ecuador to China to California to Japan. I’m excited to be a biliteracy specialist here at Claremont this year and work with the amazing teachers to make sure every child successfully learns to read in both languages. In my spare time, I like studying languages and hiking.

Dr. Ayanna Baccus, Reading Specialist
I love reading and teaching reading at Claremont! My goal is to help all children become strategic and motivated readers and writers. A few of my favorite children’s authors are Mildred Taylor, Patricia Polacco, and Beverly Clearly. In my free time, I enjoy listening to music and spending time with my family and friends.
Mrs. Nina Cortina, Reading Specialist
My name is Nina Cortina and I am originally from Miami, Florida. I have been in education for 20 years now and have worked in various educational settings, such as Montessori schools, museum-based schools, and even micro schools. I love being at Claremont because my mother language is Spanish and I am raising my own children in a multilingual household. I am excited to share my love of reading in both Spanish and English with the students!
